The Most Expensive Wedding Rings

These are three of the most expensive engagement rings ever made.

Elizabeth Taylor Diamond Ring

Given to Elizabeth Taylor by Richard Burton, the 33-carat Krupp Diamond ring is valued at A$11.3 million. Burton originally bought the diamond for A$397,000 in an auction after the death of Vera Krupp, and it was Taylor, who decided to have the diamond set into a platinum ring. Taylor’s jewellery collection went up for auction at Christie’s in 2011 and the famous ring was purchased for $8.8 million.

Bvlgari Blue Ring

The Bvlgari Blue features an exquisite and rare 5.30-carat blue diamond, set in a Bvlgari designed Trombino ring. The ring was purchased for A$12 million by Graff Diamonds in 2013, and at the time, held the title of the world’s most expensive engagement ring. The high price may be attributed to the rarity of Blue Diamonds, with the jewels only accounting for just 1% of diamonds mined world-wide.

Mariah Carey Diamond Ring

In 2016, Australian billionaire James Packer proposed to his then-girlfriend, American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey, with a US$10 million (A$13 million) engagement ring. While the engagement soon fell apart, the 35-carat diamond ring still claims the title of the most expensive engagement ring in the world. Designed by Wilfredo Rosado, the ring is set in solid platinum, bearing a 35-carat centre stone and two one-carat baguette diamonds.
