The Most Iconic Luxury Collaborations to Indulge in 2022 (So Far)

A fashion collab can often be the answer to our wildest dreams; adding a fresh touch to stale collections, or merely narrowing down our choice of extensive and sometimes overwhelming ranges of luxury brands to shop from. After an exciting year for luxury collaborations in 2021, it’s only natural to wonder what 2022 has in store for us amongst the biggest names in fashion.

Fear not, because a plethora of luxury names have already announced show-stopping collaborations. We’ve rounded up six of the year’s most iconic collections so far and where you can find them.

Kenzo x Nigo

Japanese fashion designer Nigo has been appointed as designer of a collaboration with French luxury fashion house, Kenzo. The collaboration makes Nigo one of only two Asian creative directors at European luxury houses and also the first Japanese director to take the lead of the brand since Kenzo Takada started it in 1970.

Nigo’s approach was obvious with a signature style that infused his flair into the brand. The men’s fall 2022 collection featured denim jackets, pageboy caps and work attire; button-up shirts, slacks and jeans. Functionality was rife in the collection, with an added touch of flowers embroidered onto the clothes.

Kenzo x Nigo is available from April 7 at Kenzo’s online and New York City store.

The arrival of an extremely talented Japanese designer will allow us to write a new page in the history of the House that Takada Kenzo founded. I am convinced that the creativity and innovation of Nigo as well as his attachment to the history of the House will fully express all the potential of Kenzo.

Birkenstock x Manolo Blahnik

Manolo Blahnik has reinvented the classic birk as you’ve never seen, morphing it into a shoe with unparalleled glamour and sophistication. The reputation of the beloved “ugly” sandal is challenged in this collab, with Birkenstocks adorning a vibrant colour palette and sparkling buckle.

The eminent Spanish shoe designer is synonymous with high-end women’s footwear and is also known to be a Birkenstock fan.

“I am always looking for new pieces of jewellery or accessories to decorate our shoes with and it was such fun to add sparkle to Birkenstocks making them truly eye catching,” the shoe designer said in an interview.

The Manolo Birkenstock is currently available in-store at Manolo Blahnik boutiques or Birkenstock online.

Adidas x Prada

Hitting the gym in Prada is not something you can do often unless you’re purchasing from the Adidas x Prada latest collab collection. The third edition in the Prada Re-Nylon collection is a combination of ready to wear pieces including hats, backpacks, bags and jackets.

Prada Re-Nylon was designed as a “natural extension of the athlete’s body”, to produce subtle and stylish activewear. Focusing on sustainability, the range is cut from recycled nylon textile.

Burberry x Supreme

Streetwear may not be synonymous with luxury brand Burberry, however, the latest collaboration is a successful ode to either brand’s respective identities.

The Supreme led collaboration includes a myriad of pieces including a collar puffer jacket, hoodie, jeans, t-shirt and even a skateboard and silk pyjamas.

Released on March 10, Burberry x Supreme is available in select stores across the U.K, U.S and Europe and online.

Barbie x Balmain

It’s a fusion of two of the most iconic names in fashion. Reimagining childhoods across the globe, creative director Oliver Rousteing said the unisex collaboration of Barbie and Balmain was designed to challenge gender limitations and celebrate diversity.

“Barbie and Balmain are embarking upon a distinctly multicultural, inclusive and always joy-filled adventure”, Rousteing said.

The vibrant pinks of Barbie meet the bold spirit of Balmain to release a limited-edition collection of t-shirts, hoodies and badges.

Together Barbie and Balmain are creating a new chapter in the legacy of the toy and fashion industries.

Iris Apfel x H&M

Fashion icon and longstanding designer Iris Apfel has dropped a collaboration with H&M in honour of her 100th-birthday and eclectic style.

The collab boasts scores of vibrant and colourful clothes and jewellery; including dresses, pantsuits and jewelled shoes. Apfel’s flair is obvious, translating her flamboyance and flair into H&M’s high street collections. The clothing is affordable and comes in a range of sizes and age-appropriate wear.
