Royal Scents: The World’s Most Expensive Perfumes

With Parisian perfumery, Morreale Paris deemed one of the most extravagant luxury perfume labels in the world, there’s a chance that a bottle or two of its ultra-high-end perfume bottles sits inside only a handful of bathroom cabinets owned by no other than the one per cent of the world’s richest people.

But while a bottle of Morreale will set you back a few hundred dollars, the Le Monde Sur Mesure fragrance line which launched in 2019 takes the cake in terms of value. Starting at around A$2 million and going up to around A$27 million – the Le Monde Sur Mesure collection is the most expensive in the world.

Taking up to a year to make, each bottle is carefully crafted with rare gems, like this gold diamond-encrusted bottle. But it’s not just the fragrance you get when you purchase a bottle of Morreale’s Le Monde Sur Mesure perfume. In addition to an 18k gold bracelet, buyers are also invited to fly around the world with Morreale in their private jet to select the ingredients and create their dream fragrance.

The experience is an awakening: Now that you’ve seen the world, you can own it. You deserve it. Welcome home.

Creative Director of Morreale, Maxime Rancon

So, to answer the question of what A$27 million smells like, no one really knows; only the billionaire clients can answer that one, but we imagine it smells like a collection of the rarest and most expensive ingredients on earth.

The aromatic air of mystery surrounding the label follows Morreale’s invisible financial backer, J.P Morreale. Describing himself as a French-Belgian descendant of European nobility dating back 1,000 years, the mysterious figure funding Morreale claims to have received a divine message from an ancestor to restore the family name. All we know is that Morreale continues to forge itself as a contender in the luxury fragrance space.

The Spirit of Dubai Shamukh

Housed in an Italian Murano crystal bottle, adorned with pearls and diamonds and crowned with a gold falcon, Shumukh is a one-of-a-kind three-litre perfume that carries a hefty price tag to match its hefty size. At A$1.8 million, you can buy The Spirit of Dubai’s unisex perfume and smell of sandalwood, musk, Turkish rose and Indian agarwood for years to come.

According to CNN, Shamukh has set the Guinness World Records for most diamonds on a perfume bottle and the tallest commercially available remote-controlled fragrance bottle. Yes, you read that right: remote-controlled.

Can’t see yourself spending over the million-dollar mark on a bottle of perfume? Here are some of the most expensive luxury fragrances on the market.

Joy Baccarat Pure Parfum

Containing more than 10,000 jasmine flowers and 300 roses per bottle, Jean Patou’s limited edition Joy perfume is floral, to say the least. While the perfume was first created in 1930, its hefty price tag has remained the same throughout the years, with this limited edition bottle costing more than A$2,000.

Roja Chypre Extraordinaire Parfum

Roja Dove’s Chypre Extraordinaire Parfum is another luxurious floral perfume in the higher price bracket. With base notes of patchouli, cedarwood, as well as a rich bouquet of geranium, rose and orange blossom, this perfume is described as a blend of mossy warmth that is suitable for both men and women. A bottle of 100ml will set you back close to A$2,700.

Les Royales Exclusives Jardin d’Amalfi

As part of the British fragrance brand’s 250th anniversary, Creed released Jardin d’Amalfi. Featuring top notes of mandarin, bergamot and pink pepper as well as base notes of white musk, vetiver and cinnamon, Creed describes this fragrance as a floral dance of energy and elegance. A bottle of this creed scent will set you back around A$1,500.

Tom Ford Rose Prick

Inspired by Tom Ford’s own private rose garden, Rose Prick is a warm floral perfume composed of Rose de Mai, Turkish and Bulgarian roses to create a heady and distinct fragrance. A bottle of this Tom Ford scent will set you back around A$1,225.00.
