Versace and Alexander McQueen Announce New CEOs

After six years at the helm of Alexander McQueen, Emmanuel Gintzburger is exiting from his position as CEO at the British luxury fashion house to take the reins at Versace.

Gintzburger will lead Versace as CEO from September 12, taking over from interim CEO, C├ędric Wilmotte. Gintzburger, who has also held roles at Saint Laurent and Lanvin, will report to Chairman and CEO of Capri Holdings, John D. Idol who said he was excited to welcome him as the new chief executive officer.

In a press release, Gintzburger said he was thrilled to join Versace and has long admired the “unparalleled style and fearless narrative of the house.”

According to Capri Holdings’ third-quarter fiscal 2022 results, Versace revenue of approximately A$339 million increased by 29 per cent compared to the previous year.

As for Alexander McQueen, Gianfilippo Testa will succeed Gintzburger as CEO of the Kering-owned label, effective May.

Testa has held roles across luxury conglomerate LVMH, including at Fendi and Gucci. According to Kering, Testa’s mission will aim at “accelerating the expansion of the British luxury House to tap its full potential.”

Fashion group Kering, which also manages Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta and Balenciaga, reported record revenue in 2021 with the McQueen label delivering excellent financial results.
