Inside UFC Champion Conor McGregor’s A$4m Lamborghini Yacht

Conor McGregor has been punching waves in his new 20 metre Technomar for Lamborghini 63 yacht. It’s the 12th example of only 63 to be built, in honour of the MMA fighter’s whiskey brand Proper 12 Whiskey. The hot headed, two-time world title holder took his Lamborghini yacht for a spin around the French Riviera recently whilst holidaying with his family in Monaco and Cannes. He event took a few selfies with Michael Schumacher’s son Mick, who currently drives for HAAS F1 Team, at the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.

He recently became the worlds richest professional athlete after selling his whiskey brand, which was launched in 2018, claiming his deal would net him as much as A$1 billion. The star payed over A$4 million for the speedy yacht, created as a collaboration between iconic Italian Supercar manufacturer Lamborghini and yacht builder Technomar, which was acquired by the Italian Sea Group in 2009.

Technomar has been making superyachts over 20 metres long since 1987 and the Technomar for Lamborghini 63 is the first time they have teamed up with the legendary car company. Under the hood is the biggest engine ever fitted on a Lamborghini. Two MAN V12s produce a spine tingling 2000 horsepower each, enough to launch the boat to a blistering 60 knots.

It uses 480 litres of fuel per hour at maximum speed; an expensive joy ride with international oil prices at the moment, although its cruising speed is 40 knots. McGregor is believed to have fitted it out with over A$700,000 worth of custom Proper 12 whiskey branded equipment and is currently training to challenge ‘The Nigerian Nightmare,’ Kamaru Usman for the UFC Welterweight championship.

Ludicrously powerful engine aside, the Technomar for Lamborghini 63 is also a stylish and well considered vessel that has one twin suite and one double suite, sleeping four people in relative comfort. Although we are not sure how much McGregor plans to sleep in the yacht. He seems to like driving it at high speeds shirtless while screaming at his social media team, who are hanging on for dear life.

Conor McGregor’s new Lamborghini yacht is super lightweight which, despite its 20 metre length and massive engines weighs just 24 tonnes, mostly due to its composition. Carbon fibre has been used extensively on the exterior and interior, the gold painted hull is made out of GRP and the actual superstructure is also made of carbon fibre, greatly reducing weight.

Onboard the ‘Supercar of the Seas,’ you would be forgiven for mistakenly thinking that you have stepped into the cockpit of a modern Lamborghini. Futuristic geometric shapes define the interior spaces and the layout is surprisingly comfortable and practical. Great effort was put into usability, liveability and functionality and it seems that Lamborghini and Technomar are determined that the yacht not be perceived simply as a marketing exercise.

The design was inspired by a Supercar, the Siàn FKP 37 model, a limited edition carbon-fibre hybrid sports car that produces the most power of any Lamborghini ever. 807 horses from a 6.5 litre V12 engine push the vehicle to a top speed of over 350km/h, helped by an electric boost from the hybrid engine. It is the fastest yacht in the Technomar fleet.
