Telecommunications carrier Field Solutions (FSG) receives a further $1 million from the Queensland government for the 'Building our Regions' project.

The 'Building our Regions' program allocates funding to support local government infrastructure projects in regional communities. The funding is distributed in five rounds.

In 2019, the company developed a shire-wide plan for six councils in southern Queensland which were successful in receiving the government round four funding. In all six shires, digital connectivity was severely lacking, which is what Field Solutions aims to change.

Today, the company announced it has received an additional $1 million to build a network infrastructure project.

CEO Andrew Roberts said that FSG is building a network where businesses and residents are within the shire boundaries.

"In this way, FSG helps the local council and business with operational efficiencies, bringing cloud-capable symmetric services and asymmetric services to the residents and businesses combined with commercial-grade internet of things (IoT) services," he explained.

"The award of additional funding reinforces the need for councils to work in a collaborative way to ensure we have economies of scale as we introduce this new network," he added.

Design activities will commence next month, with network construction activities to commence in March 2021. The contract is for a minimum of 10 years.

On the market this afternoon, Field Solutions is in the grey and trading for 4.4 cents per share at 12:49 pm AEST.
