Mobile data provider Flexiroam (FRX) has signed an agreement to provide Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity to Asia Mobiliti, a commercial vehicle and public transport telematics supplier.

Under the agreement, Flexiroam will provide coverage to Asia Mobiliti’s IoT devices installed in vehicles within Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

The projected annual revenue is $50,000 initially, which is expected to increase over time.

The agreement has an initial term of three years and includes a 30-day termination notice by either party.

Asia Mobiliti CEO Ramachandran Muniandy said the company is building technology products that make transport more sustainable, affordable and convenient, tackling congestion and pollution problems for cities and nations.

“Our IoT devices track geolocation, driving behaviour, cabin conditions, and vehicle condition so having reliable connectivity is critical,” Mr Muniandy said.

“We selected Flexiroam to be our IoT connectivity supplier due to the high level of flexibility and control provided, allowing our IoT devices to be connected to the best possible network at all times.”

Flexiroam CEO and Executive Director Marc Barnett said the company is pleased to have signed its first deal to supply connectivity to the vehicle management industry.

“We will initially supply pluggable SIM cards, which will be upgraded to MFF2 SIMs. MFF2 stands for machine-to-machine form factor and these SIMs are embedded directly onto the circuit board during IoT device manufacturing, ensuring a long-life cycle once these devices are deployed,” Mr Barnett said.

“Having made investments into our technology infrastructure, engineering team and sales team, we are excited by the vast opportunities to scale our vehicle management IoT connectivity business, over the long term.”

Shares in Flexiroam were down 2.04 per cent at the close of trading on Tuesday at 4.8 cents each.
