JB Hi-Fi has started selling MGM Wireless’ (MWR) mobile device Spacetalk Life for seniors at its Australian stores.

Spacetalk Life is a standalone mobile phone built into a GPS smartwatch which is designed to be used by seniors.

The device features an SOS button, medication reminders, and Bluetooth pairing to hearing devices and car audio.

Additionally, it consists of two world first innovations that work in tandem.

The first is “safety call back” which launches a return call when a senior is unable to answer due to a fall or other accident.

The device also allows an approved contact to use MGM’s AllMyTribe app to begin a voice call to check on the wearer and their wellbeing.

The second innovation is “location by request” which allows approved contact to track and identify the whereabouts of the wearer.

If the wearer wishes to keep their privacy then they can reject the request.

This partnership with JB Hi-Fi adds onto the already existing one with MGM’s Spacetalk mobile phone smartwatch for children aged between five and 12.

“We are very pleased to once again have JB Hi-Fi as our retail launch partner. Spacetalk devices now sell online and in over 900 bricks and mortar retail outlets throughout Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom,” Executive Chairman and CEO Mark Fortunatow said.

“We believe the in-store training that JB Hi-Fi brings with our first bricks and mortar distribution will result in a step change improvement in brand awareness and sales,” he added.

MGM has ended the day 3.23 per cent in the green with shares trading for 16 cents each in a $25.60 million market cap.
