John Poynton has served as Chairman of Strike Energy since April 2017.
As well as being Chairman of Strike, John also holds this position at Jindalee Partners and Sapien Cyber.
He is also a Board Member of the Future Fund Board of Guardians, and Director of Crown Resorts and Security Research Institute Advisory Board.
John graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Commerce and an Honorary Doctor of Commerce.
From 1976 to 1996 he was Managing Director and Chairman of stockbroking firm Hartley Poynton.
He has also helped co-find and chair companies such as GEM Consulting, from 1996-2004, and Azure Capital where he served until 2016.
Previously, John has served as the Chairman, Deputy Chairman or Non-Executive Director of a number of ASX listed companies, Federal Government boards, education institutions and not-for-profit enterprises.
Some of these include the Export Finance and Insurance Corporation, the Payments System Board of the Reserve Bank of Australia and the Business School at the University of Western Australia.
John is also a Chair of Giving West and from 2014 to 2018 he was the Chair of Christ Church Grammar School Council.
His highest honours include being an Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia and being awarded the WA Citizen of the Year award, in the commerce and industry category, in 2006.
