Kincora (KCC) believes it’s close to its porphry target at the brownfield Trundle Project, located in the Macquarie Arc of the Lachlan Fold Belt, New South Wales (NSW).
The company’s drilling effort at the Trundle Park prospect within the project has been focussed on testing the near-surface skarn mineralisation and source of the intrusive porphyry.
The latest results have reportedly intersected broad gold mineralised intervals which KCC said strongly indicated proximity to the core of a large porphyry
intrusive system.
Drill hole TRDD022 returned 162 metres at 0.24 grams of gold per tonne (g/t), and 0.04 per cent copper from 670 metres down hole, as well as 46 metres at 0.54 g/t and 0.08 per cent copper from further down, and lastly 18 metres at 0.75 g/t and 0.09 per cent copper from 712 metres.
These results are said to provide the greatest “proof of concept” support to date for Trundle Park to host a potential series of porphyry intrusive systems.
John Holliday, the Technical Committee chair, and Peter Leaman, the Vice President of Exploration, both said the assays were highly encouraging.
“We are potentially very close to our porphyry target,” he said.
“A follow up hole is drilling to the north-north-west of TRDD022, for the potential higher grade and interpreted core of the targeted system”.
Moreover, the extensive strike of over 500 metres of near surface skarn mineralisation reported in an earlier hole further boosts the company’s confidence of a large multiple intrusive porphyry gold-copper system at the prospect.
KCC said it was continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation in NSW. Two rigs remain operational, with one drilling a scissor hole to TRDD022 and the other has begun a second hole at the Gateway prospect at the Fairholme project located south-west of Trundle.
