Lanthanein Resources (LNR) has received the go-ahead for drilling at its Murraydium ionic clay-hosted rare earths project in South Australia.

Located in the south-eastern region of Naracoorte in the Murray Basin, the project covers 873 square kilometres and is wholly owned by Lanthanein’s subsidiary Southern Rare Earths.

South Australia’s Department for Energy and Mining approved the company’s Exploration Program for Environment Protection and Rehabilitation (EPEPR) application. A total of 307 aircore drill holes will now be drilled along roadside verges to test for rare earth elements within the Naracoorte, Bordertown, Jip Jip and Keith tenement blocks.

The project area forms part of an extensive tertiary strand plain comprising a series of sandstone‐dominant fluvial and beach‐dune strand complexes.

The sand units commonly form undulating sand ridges interspersed with low lying areas of clay, mud and sand.

A drill contractor from South Australia has also been sourced with aircore drilling capability mounted on a turbo diesel Toyota 6×6 Landcruiser.

Under the EPEPR process, South Australian exploration licence holders have statutory requirements including the identification of relevant environmental, social and economic impacts and obtain relevant approvals prior to undertaking exploration activities.

Shares in Lanthanein Resources last traded at 1.5 cents each on Thursday, June 23.
