Lefroy Exploration (LEX) has completed two out of 14 holes planned for its diamond drilling program at the Burns copper-gold prospect in WA.

Burns lies within the Eastern Lefroy tenement package which is part of the Lefroy Gold Project.

The 3000-metre drilling program began on April 20 and is aimed at expanding copper-gold mineralisation.

The first hole was completed on May 3 and aimed to twin and extend past a high-grade interval to determine the width of the Eastern Porphyry.

Pleasingly, the hole intersected the Eastern Porphyry from 117 metres to 304.5 metres — a downhole interval of 187.5 metres. The porphyry zone was interpreted to have a near vertical dip and estimated true width of about 110 metres.

The second hole was completed one week later and commenced at 40 metres down an existing reverse circulation hole and terminated at 396.6 metres downhole.

This drill hole aimed to test the depth of a host porphyry around 55 metres below mineralised zones in the first hole.

Positively, the second hole intersected a 189-metre interval of the Eastern Porphyry from 179 metres downhole.

Based on these findings so far, Lefroy believes the Burns prospect is a multi-stage mineral system with the final magnetite sulphide event mineralising both the porphyry and the basalt host rocks.

Lefroy is now drilling the third hole to evaluate the Eastern Porphyry a further 60 metres beneath the second drill hole.

Interestingly, this hole will be the deepest hole yet to be completed by Lefroy at Burns as its estimated final depth is 440 metres.

The company expects to receive assay results for the first two holes in June.

Lefroy’s shares are up 23.7 per cent and are trading at 96.5 cents at 12:01 pm AEST.
