  • Legend Mining (LEG) has received more significant aircore assay results from the Mawson prospect
  • Of the 18 holes received, eight of these returned anomalous levels of nickel and copper mineralisation
  • Results peaked at 0.36 per cent nickel, 0.22 per cent copper, and 0.04 per cent cobalt
  • These results, along with previous ones, are beginning to outline a large geochemical anomaly east of the main mineralisation at Mawson
  • Additional infill aircore drilling is currently underway and is aiming to define the extent of the anomalism
  • Legend is steady in mid-morning trade and shares are selling for 16.5 cents each

Legend Mining (LEG) has received more significant aircore assay results from the Mawson prospect.

The Mawson prospect is situated within the Rockford Project, which is located in the highly prospective Fraser Range district in Western Australia.

Legend has received results from 18 holes, and eight of these returned anomalous levels of nickel and copper associated with mafic and ultramafic intrusives.

Significant results include 24 metres at 0.36 per cent nickel, 0.22 per cent copper and 0.04 per cent cobalt from 60 metres, and 22 metres at 0.29 per cent nickel, 0.16 per cent copper, and 0.02 per cent cobalt from 60 metres.

These results, along with previously reported ones, are beginning to outline a large northeast-southwest trending geochemical anomaly located to the east of the main sulphide mineralisation at Mawson.

Additional infill aircore drilling is currently underway and is aiming to define the extent of the anomalism.

A detailed gravity survey is also underway, and results from this will be used in conjunction with the results from the aircore drilling to outline future targets.

“The developing geochemical footprint of anomalous nickel-copper assays at Mawson is seen as an important indicator of the possible source of the massive sulphides we have discovered recently,” Managing Director Mark Wilson said.

“The aircore drilling program in this area is ongoing, and once complete, we will have a clearer picture of the detail of this footprint,” he added.

Legend will now continue with infill aircore drilling over Mawson, as well as diamond drilling to target extensions to the nickel-copper mineralisation.

The company is also nearing completing of the detailed gravity survey over the anomaly.

Legend is steady in mid-morning trade and shares are selling for 16.5 cents each at 10:31 am AEST.
