Bauxite explorer Lindian Resources (LIN) has received assays confirming very high-grade conglomerate bauxite from its Gaoual Bauxite Project in Guinea.

Bauxite is a sedimentary rock with a relatively high aluminium content and is the world’s main source of aluminium and gallium.

The company received the test work on drill results from the Bouba Conglomerate Bauxite Plateau and Mamaya Plateau within the Guinea project.

Linidian’s Perth laboratory, Bureau Veritas, analysed the samples using X-ray fluorescence (XRF).

The company says 655 samples from the Bouba plateau were analysed by XRF, with a selection of 58 further tested with digestion techniques at both high and low temperatures.

On the other hand, 295 samples from the Mamaya plateau were analysed by XRF, with 18 of those further tested at high and low-temperature digestions.

Within the Bouba Plateau, Lindian says the digestion test work confirmed the dominance of aluminium minerals within the conglomerate bauxite.

Most notably, during high-temperature digestion testing, samples from the Bouba Plateau returned total available alumina grades of over 92 per cent.

Bouba Plateau

Geological expert Mark Gifford said that test work from the Plateau continues to show impressive high-grade nature.

“With the capacity to determine the areas of low boehmite presence within the resource, an extremely valuable resource with an exceptionally high TAA content could be attained within the resource tonnage, making the Bouba Conglomerate Bauxite a valuable addition to the Guinea resource landscape,” he said.

Managing Director Shannon Green says these results are a milestone for Lindian.

“It is a fantastic milestone to finally be able to communicate these terrific results following the receival of both the XRF and digestion test work for the initial drilling program and most exciting is that the results show the truly world-class nature and quality of this incredible and unique resource,” he said.

What’s next?

The remaining 214 samples from the drill program have been prepared and are on their way to Perth for analysis. These samples are expected to contain similar results like the ones being reported here.

Once those samples have been fully analysed, they’ll be used to develop a JORC resource for the Guinea project.

Lindian Resources is down 23.5 per cent on the market this morning, selling shares for 1.3 cents each at 10:14 am AEST.
