Lodestar Minerals (LSR) has completed an additional multi-element soil geochemistry program at its Coolgardie West lithium and gold project near Coolgardie in Western Australia, identifying an “exciting”, unexplored LCT pegmatite target.

The company says first-pass drilling is required to determine the key characteristics, including mineralogy and geometry, of the fresh target and it plans to carry out reverse circulation drilling of multiple traverses over the pegmatite as soon as practicable.

The program was designed to extend geochemical sampling over the north-western and south-eastern extent of the Coolgardie West tenement and infill within contiguous gold anomalies identified in recent sampling work.

Lodestar says the distribution of historic pits “confirms” the significant strike extent in the lithium soil geochemistry.

A pegmatite unit associated with a contiguous lithium soil anomaly has been traced in minor exposures and pits over a strike of 1,900 metres of shallow excavations extending discontinuously.

Though the total width of the pegmatite is not exposed, the company says in places pits are distributed laterally over widths of up to 40m.

Due to limited surface information the characteristics of the pegmatite – zoned, unzoned, mineralogy or geometry – cannot be discerned at this early stage, Lodestar says.

About 25 rock samples from shallow excavations in pegmatite have been submitted to a laboratory for LCT element assaying.

LSR shares were up 7.69 per cent to 1.4 cents at 12:49 pm AEDT.
