ASX-lister Manhattan (MHC) has progressed drilling in the northern target areas of its Tibooburra Gold Project in New South Wales.

Tibooburra lies some 160 kilometres south of the townsite of the same name and roughly 200 kilometres north of Broken Hill.

Since commencing air core (AC) drilling back in April, the company said more than 150 AC holes had been drilled for roughly 9000 metres at the project.

This takes the total number of AC holes drilled at Tibooburra, including those completed last year, to 255 over approximately 14,000 metres.

It’s a significant dent in MHC’s planned 20,000-metre program, which remains ongoing.

Summarising its progress to date, the company said AC drilling had been completed at several prospects including New Bendigo, New Bendigo South, Silverton, Big Ego and Big Ego Northwest, as well as Main Zone and the northern extensions.

New Bendigo

At New Bendigo, the gold miner hit alteration similar to that already intersected in holes associated with black shales and brecciated quartz veining.

The company said infill lines completed at Main Zone suggested the mineralisation could be open on the eastern side, with assays still pending.

Phoenix, Pioneer and Jefferies Flat

Meanwhile, drilling around the historic, under-explored northern gold trend commenced in late May and is scheduled to remain in the area until mid-June.

According to Manhattan, the Jefferies Flat area is ideal for auger testing due to its shallow weathering, with an auger rig planned for mobilisation following air core drilling.

In the meantime, the company encountered alteration, similar to that at New Bendigo, in holes at Phoenix and Pioneer, with assays pending.

Next steps

Looking ahead, Manhattan has planned reverse circulation (RC) drilling to initially target extensions to Main Zone, Silverton and New Bendigo South.

Further prospects such as Clone, Hot Soils and the southern extent of Pioneer have also been marked for RC drilling once the NSW Government grants the company land access, which is expected shortly.

Shares in Manhattan were trading at 1.6 cents each at market close on June 9.
