Despite President Donald Trump’s persistent claims of voter fraud, a coalition of senior U.S. government officials has said that the 2020 presidential election flowed smoothly and with only the usual minor hiccups.

A statement released on Thursday by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) even went so far as to call the election “the most secure in American history.”

Following dogged accusations of “stealing” from a handful of obstinate Republicans, the statement issued by the (CISA) represents the most concrete repudiation so far of what has broadly been considered dangerous misinformation.

“There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised. While we know there are many unfounded claims and opportunities for misinformation about the process of our elections, we can assure you we have the utmost confidence in the security and integrity of our elections, and you should too,” the CISA stated.

In his typical fashion, Trump quickly took to Twitter to claim responsibility for the “wonderful job the Trump Administration did in making 2020 the most secure election ever,” but at the same time referred to it as “rigged.”

The statement from the CISA comes as final counts roll in from the previously untallied states of Georgia and North Carolina. Projections from Edison Research said that President-elect Joe Biden wound up with 306 Electoral College votes while Trump ended with 232.

Trump is yet to officially concede the election, but Jen Psaki, a senior adviser to Biden’s transition team, said they were “charging ahead with the transition.”

“With every day that passes on, it becomes more concerning that our national security team and the president-elect and the vice president-elect don’t have access to those threat assessments, intelligence briefings, real-time information about our engagements around the world,” Psaki said.

That said, Geraldo Rivera, a Fox News correspondent and Trump confidant, said he had spoken to the president by phone on Friday, who had given him the impression that he would follow the U.S. Constitution and surrender his office after every vote was counted.

“He told me he’s a realist. He told me he would do the right thing. I got no impression that he was plotting the overthrow of the elected government. He just wants a fair fight,” Rivera said in an interview with Fox News.

Counties across the state of Georgia have now begun a by-hand recount of almost five million ballots.
