Ora Gold (OAU) has received results from the latest reverse circulation drilling program at its Abbots Gold Project in Western Australia.

The project is located near Meekatharra and is one of several land packages the company holds in the Abbots Greenstone Belt.

The Abbots Gold Project hosts two historical gold mines which operated between 1887 and 1908. It was many years before the first exploration drilling was conducted in the area by Invisible Gold in 1985, and later by St Barbara Mines.

Drilling program

The 28-hole program was designed to intersect mineralised cross-structures across the project which were interpreted as holding a large proportion of the near-surface mineralisation in the gold system.

At the South-West Abbotts Prospect, four of the five holes encountered gold mineralisation, one of which returned an intercept of seven metres at 7.32 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold.

At the South Abbotts Prospect, a total of 13 inclined and vertical holes were drilled between the southern end of the Eastern Shear Zone and the Western Contact.

The two holes which returned the best intercepts where located on the cross-cutting structure intersections with those shears and included two metres at 18.2 g/t gold from 72 metres downhole.

At the South New Murchison King Prospect, the company completed five drill holes which returned a best intercept of four metres at 3.85 g/t gold from 41 metres. Ora Gold intends to complete more drilling at several cross-cutting splays from the Eastern Shear Zone.

Finally, at the North Mount Vranizan Prospect, the company drilled five holes to the north of the main shaft where past underground mining took place. Highlights from the program include eight metres at 5.42 g/t of gold from 36 metres and 16 metres at 1.93 g/t gold.

Shares have been up 4.35 per cent and trading at 2.4 cents at 2:00 pm AEDT.
