- ParaZero’s DJI Phantom 4 Series and DJI Mavic 2 Series comply with Canada’s regulations for operating drones over people
- By complying with Transport Canada and its regulations makes the drones the first and only ASTM compliant parachute system that is to be used in the US under Federal Aviation Authority
ParaZero announced its SafeAir Systems comply with Canada’s latest regulations for operating over people.
This allows for both drones and their safety kits to be allowed to operate over people and will begin immediately.
On June 1 2019 Transport Canada’s (TC) new rules for flying drones came into effect and are divided into two categories- basic and advanced.
Basic operations include general recreational flying while the advanced operations include flights in controlled airspace and flights near and/or over people.
The framework developed by TC allows manufacturers and modifiers of the drones to declare compliance of the requirements of each of the advanced operations.
While the DJI Mavic 2 has already declared compliance for operating in a controlled airspace and operating near people: 5 to 30 metres horizontally from people.
Both drones have a safety system that independently monitors key flight parameters of the drone’s internal and external systems. When critical failures are identified the mechanical flight termination stops the rotors and a parachute is deployed.
The parachute deploys to a full canopy in a matter of seconds, controls the descent and enables safe flight over people. The drone is then brought safely to the ground which minimises the impact.
By complying with TC and its regulations makes ParaZero’s Safe Air Systems the first and only ASTM compliant parachute system that is to be used by the US under Federal Aviation Authority.
