Pioneer Resources’ inaugural drilling program is underway at Dome North where spodumene has been mapped in outcrop.

The first orientation drill hole, PDRC263, was drilled in an easterly direction at Target 2. Rock chip results released last month showed PDRC263 encountered pegmatite down dip of the outcrop from which the 17 rock chips containing spodumene returned assays between 1.65 per cent and 3.70 per cent lithium oxide.

Pegmatite was intersected from 175 metres down hole and continued to the termination of the hole at 311 metres. This intersection suggests the pegmatite is dipping approximately parallel to the first drill hole which was angled at ‐60 degrees from horizontal towards east.

Two further holes have been drilled to the west. These holes targeted the pegmatite intersected in PDRC263 from the opposite direction and are believed to have given a better indication of the true width of the pegmatite.

“We are excited with what has been observed in the first few drill holes and look forward to delivering results to the market as they become available,” Managing Director David Crook said.

The Dome North prospect is part of the Pioneer Dome Project and is wholly owned by Pioneer. It’s located approximately 130 kilometres south of Kalgoorlie and 200 kilometres north of the Port of Esperance.

The Dome North area is located 18 kilometres north of the prospective Sinclair Mine, which forms the basis of the company’s strategy to grow further value at Pioneer Dome.

The Pioneer Dome sits along a significant lithium corridor which includes the Mt Marion, Bald Hill and Ravensthorpe lithium mines.

Pioneer will conduct drilling in and around the identified spodumene outcrops, this September quarter, with assay results in October 2019.
