PlaySide Studios (PLY) has entered a strategic publishing agreement with Team17 regarding the upcoming video game “Age of Darkness: Final Stand”.

Founded in 1990, Team17 is a global PC, mobile, console and tablet gaming developer and is one of the most prolific game developers.

It has developed and published some popular and recognisable gaming series, such as Overooked!, Moving Out, Golf With Your Friends and My Time at Portia.

Team17 CEO Debbie Bestwick said the company is pleased with the partnership.

“We at Team17 are incredibly excited to be able to partner with PlaySide Studios on the release of Age of Darkness: Final Stand this year,” Ms Bestwick said.

“Age of Darkness is the perfect addition to our games label, and it is a testament to the development and leadership teams at PlaySide that they have been able to create something that we believe will be market-leading as a strategy to such a high quality.”

Under the partnership, Team17 will publish Age of Darkness: Final Stand while PlaySide will act as the developer.

Team17 will pay a total of US$2.44 million (A$3.31 million) in monthly payments to PlaySide over a nine-month period in exchange for the publishing rights.

Age of Darkness: Final Stand is a dark fantasy survival real time strategy and is planned for release in early access on Steam in Q2 FY22.

PlaySide CEO Gerry Sakkas commented on the significance of the agreement.

“This is a groundbreaking day in the history of PlaySide. This is the first PC publishing arrangement PlaySide has entered, and it is extremely exciting that it is with one of the largest indie game publishers in the world for the launch of our PC/Console product,” Mr Sakkas said.

“The partnership shows true merit and recognition in the excellence and quality of Age of Darkness, and I am so proud of the development team for everything they have achieved to date.”

PlaySide was steady on the market with shares trading at 38.5 cents at 1:05 pm AEST.
