PlaySide Studios (PLY) is set to extend its current work-for-hire development agreement with Facebook Technologies for a further six months.
PlaySide Studios is Australia’s largest publicly-listed video game developer, offering over 50 titles across four platforms. The company has a collection of big-name collaborations on its resume, including Disney, Pixar, Warner Bros and Nickelodeon.
PlaySide’s initial agreement involved the creation and development of game services on the Facebook Technologies Horizon VR platform. The agreement would see games designed for the Oculus Quest, a gaming system using virtual reality.
Following the expansion, the new contract value has increased by 90 per cent from the original agreement. With the new agreement signed, PlaySide has pledged to deliver up to 16 mini-games for the Facebook Horizon VR platform over the term of the agreement.
“This is a fantastic win for Playside and validation from the team at Facebook that we are delivering the value they need for content expansion on the Facebook Horizon platform,” said CEO Gerry Sakkas.
“It is another step in building our market reputation and ability to scale in the global market and drive revenue growth through our abilities and brand.”
PlaySide Studios was up 2.63 per cent, trading at 39 cents at 1:40 pm AEST.
