Rafaella Resources (RFR) has appointed a new General Manager to lead its Spanish subsidiary Galicia Tin and Tungsten SL.

Galicia is the owner of RFR’s flagship Santa Comba Tungsten Project in Spain and Juan Jose Lopez Muñoz will now head up the subsidiary.

Rafaella Managing Director Steven Turner has welcomed the appointment and said Juan José will focus on the restart of the underground operation at Santa Comba.

“Rafaella is extremely pleased to welcome Juan José to the management team.
His local knowledge and connections are an important addition to GTT as the project moves towards first production,” Mr Turner said.

“His appointment bolsters the Company’s ability to prepare Santa Comba for production at a time when the world is increasing its focus on critical metals such as tungsten and the concern over-concentration of supply from China.”

RFR was expecting the first tungsten concentrate from the underground ore at Santa Comba to be produced next month.

A feasibility study for full-scale operation at the project was also due to be completed shortly, along with a mineral reserve estimate update.

The company recently dismantled the previous plant at the site, making way for the pilot plant to be installed with a contract for the plant agreed and executed.

Following today’s wide-ranging update, shares in RFR were trading up 7.53 per cent at 10 cents each at the close of market on Tuesday.
