Rincon Resources (RCR) has restarted drilling at its South Telfer copper-gold project in the Paterson province of Western Australia.

Up to 5000 metres of reverse circulation (RC) and diamond drilling will be undertaken at the Hasties prospect.

It will complete the EIS-hole that was originally drilled to test the Hasties Deeps target area that lies 300 metres below surface.

Phase two drilling initially began in December with seven RC holes, for 1476 metres, drilled so far.

Roughly 3000 metres remains to be drilled, consisting of eight RC and two diamond holes.

Diamond drilling is expected to take between two to three weeks to complete with results expected within six to eight weeks. RC drilling will begin once the diamond drilling wraps up.

Following the phase two drilling program, Rincon will complete detailed structural mapping over Hasties and advanced 3D modelling of the mapped Hasties geology.

Up to 10,000 metres of aircore drilling will also be completed to test the versatile time-domain electromagnetic (VTEM) targets along the Hasties-Grade and Dolphy-Westin trends.

Finally, an orientation ultrafine fraction soil sampling survey will be completed over the Westin prospect area, and dependent on the results from the phase two program, planning and preparation for follow-up diamond and RC drilling will be completed at the Hasties and Frenchman’s prospects.

“We are pleased to recommence drilling at Hasties following several delays due to cyclonic weather preventing access to site,” Managing Director Gary Harvey said.

“We welcome the arrival of the diamond rig to complete the EIS-hole to test the ‘Hasties Deeps’ target. While still early in the game, this is nonetheless an important phase of drilling at Hasties where we hope to gain valuable information regarding the potential scale of the mineralised system.”

Rincon has ended the day 3.13 per cent in the green with shares trading at 16.5 cents.
