  • Sky and Space Global has signed an agreement with GomSpace to deliver newly designed 6U nano satellites.
  • Sky and Space Global plans to add global coverage constellation to address demand for IoT and M2M services, increase potential customer base and enhance revenue.

Sky and Space Global Limited has announced it has signed a definitive agreement with GomSpace, a commercial nano-satellite manufacturer and supplier. The agreement will see GomSpace providing and manufacturing an additional fleet of nano satellites to support Global Coverage constellation.

Sky and Space Global is the first company to plan, build, and operate a telecommunication commercial network over nano satellites. After only launching in 2015, Sky and Space Global operate in a field of nano satellites which has become the most popular type of satellites for diverse commercial usage.

The low mass and high capabilities of nano satellites makes them the ideal choice for constellations and applications in the New Space industry.

The 6U Agreement with GomSpace will include a two-batch delivery of the nano satellites, with the first delivery of eight expected by Q1 2020 and the second delivery of eight is optional and expected in H1 2020. The order value of the first batch is EUR 5.2 million and up to EUR 3.8 million for the optional second batch.

Sky and Space Global and GomSpace will need to reach an agreement on changes to the existing Pearls Agreement entered into in 2017 within 30 days. If the proposed changes aren’t finalised within the required time frame, Sky and Space Global may not be able to execute its operating strategy as planned.

Sky and Space Global’s Managing Director and CEO, Meir Moalem saiid on the 6U Agreement, “The signing of this new agreement with GomSpace is a key step towards the launch of our new Global Coverage satellites and first revenues. The new 6U Agreement will allow Sky and Space to deliver a global coverage nanosatellite fleet servicing the IoT and M2M sectors, with strong potential demand for these services already evident.”
