Saunders International (SND) has been awarded a $26 million contract for the Larrakeyah Defence Precinct Redevelopment Program (LDPRP) in Darwin.

The LDPRP will enhance the Australian Defence Force’s capacity to undertake operations in the north of Australia and provide fuel storage and refuelling capabilities to meet the growing demand.

The contract was awarded by construction company Laing O’Rourke Contracting and it will act as Managing Contractor.

Under the contract, Saunders will construct two 1.75-megalitre (ML) diesel fuel tanks, the tank farm pump facility, piping, and fire, water, electrical, and safety services.

The company will also install a site-wide diesel fuel system which includes pipes, valves, and support, as well as a control system.

“We are proud to have been selected by Laing O’Rourke to participate in the construction of this critical project for the Australia Defence Force’s operations in the Northern Territory,” CEO Mark Benson said.

“The contract is a significant win for our defence sector strategy and demonstrates Saunders’ ability to deliver value-creating multidisciplined services through our renewed operating model,” he added.

Construction is scheduled to begin in Q2 2021 and is due to be completed by the end of 2022 with revenue running through FY21 to FY23.

Saunders is up 10.2 per cent and shares are trading for 65 cents each at 3:43 pm AEST.
