Siren Gold (SNG) has reported an additional high-grade intersection at the Alexander River project in New Zealand.

Siren completed hole AX89, drilled 100 metres down-plunge from AX85, and intersected 2.5 metres at 358 grams per tonne (g/t) gold in the McVicar West shoot.

AX89 intersected 2.3 metres at 10.2 g/t gold from 293 metres with the 2.3-metre mineralised zone containing a 0.6-metre quartz reef which showed visible gold on the hanging wall.

Drill hole AX91 intersected the McVicar West shoot 100 metres down-plunge from AX89. While assays for AX91 are pending, this intersection reportedly extends the shoot to 750 metres down-plunge below level six of the McVicar mine.

When combined, the McVicar West and McVicar East shoots now extend for over 1.3 kilometres below outcrop.

Siren Gold is waiting on some assays from drilling at McVicar West and also expects the mineral resource estimate for the Alexander project to be reported at some point this month.

Over at the Lyell project, the company recently undertook soil sampling which showed a three-kilometre-long gold anomaly that intersects the anticline around the Alpine United mine.

The gold anomaly at the Mt Lyell North area was mapped and while outcrop is poor, a 100-metre-long mineralised zone was identified based on sub-crop and float samples.

Samples assayed up to 4.8 g/t gold and some that contained thin quartz veinlets included assays of 37 g/t and 22 g/t gold.

The company said the samples have similarities to the Alexander River mineralisation and it plans to undertake drilling at Lyell once it received access approvals.

SNG shares ended the day trading steady at 27 cents.
