Strike Resources (SRK) has secured a second shipment of iron ore from its Apurimac project in Peru.

The sale contract is with a South American steel mill for 15,000 tones of lump iron ore at market price, with shipment scheduled for early October.

The product is set to be used by the buyer as an industrial trial for its steel manufacturing facility.

SRK said shipping to the buyer’s port will take around six days voyage and when compared to its first delivery to customers in China which took 32 days, will see considerable savings in shipping costs.

The new customer is said to be seeking long-term and regular supplies of ore which Strike said it could potentially meet from its Apurimac project if the trial is successful.

From the company’s first shipment, independent analysis has reportedly confirmed the premium lump iron ore from Apurimac as exceptionally high-grade with an average grade of 66 per cent iron and low impurities.

Managing Director William Johnson said the company is very pleased with the results from the testing of its first 35,000 tonne shipment.

Shares were trading 3.1 per cent higher at 16.5 cents at 12:27pm AEST.
