Sunshine Gold (SHN) has begun aircore drilling at the Elphinstone Creek prospect within its Ravenswood West Project in Queensland.
Altogether, 67 holes have been planned to assess the prospect’s rare earth element potential and test a rare earth enriched intrusion identified from stream sediment and soil sampling.
In 2018, soil sampling returned significant stream sediment assays with up to 6.28g/t gold, 2.28 per cent total rare earth oxides, 0.37 per cent neodymium and 0.11 per cent praseodymium.
Managing Director Damien Keys said the aircore drilling would advance Sunshine Gold’s understanding of the rare earths.
“The aircore drilling traverse is expected to provide information on the depth of the regolith and the nature of the basement intrusion. The results of the program will shape the style of future drilling campaigns,” he said.
“Drilling will take about one week to complete and results are anticipated to be returned in December 2022.”
