  • Sunstone Metals (STM) receives drill and metallurgical testwork results from the Brama-Alba discovery in Ecuador
  • Assays include 401.2 metres at 0.58 g/t gold equivalent from 31.5 metres and reportedly show evidence that the discovery hosts a “substantial” gold-copper porphyry system
  • Initial metallurgical testing also indicated recoveries above 86 per cent for copper and 88 per cent for gold can be achieved with a combined flotation and leach circuit
  • Testwork and drilling is continuing and will support a maiden mineral resource estimate scheduled for the December quarter
  • STM shares are trading flat at 4.6 cents at 2:14 pm AEST

Sunstone Metals (STM) has received further results that continue to expand its Brama-Alba porphyry discovery in Ecuador.

Assays include 401.2 metres at 0.58 grams per tonne (g/t) gold equivalent from 31.5 metres including 50 metres at 1.01 g/t gold equivalent from 102 metres in BMDD019.

Additional results include 66 metres at 0.62 g/t gold equivalent from 254 metres in BMDD027 and 72.7 metres at 0.68 g/t gold equivalent from surface in BMDD029.

Sunstone Metals said the results show that higher-grade mineralisation occurs in sub-domains within the 1.2-kilometre-long Brama-Alba system.

The results also offer further evidence that the discovery hosts a “substantial” gold-copper porphyry system with potential to extend significantly to the Melonal and Playas targets that are located to the west and east, respectively. STM plans to drill these targets later in the year.

In addition to drilling, the company completed initial metallurgical testwork on different mineralisation styles from Brama-Alba. Results indicated that recoveries above 86 per cent for copper and 88 per cent for gold can be achieved with a combined flotation and leach circuit.

Further testwork will focus on improving recovery responses in a flotation-only circuit to determine whether that configuration is a feasible option, however, the company will also conduct additional optimisation testing of the current flotation-leach scenario.

Sunstone Metals will use the drill results and metallurgical testwork to support a maiden mineral resource estimate for the Brama-Alba deposit in the December quarter.

STM shares were trading flat at 4.6 cents at 2:14 pm AEST.
