Torian Resources (TNR) has extended mineralisation beyond previous resource boundaries at its Mt Stirling project in WA on the back of recent “significant” gold hits in the area.

Some of the best new results from the project, which lies in WA’s Eastern Goldfields region, include a 33-metre hit at 1.78 grams per tonne gold (g/t gold) from 196m and a 5m hit at 8.52 g/t gold. This second intersection included a 2m zone at 16.19 g/t gold and a one-metre zone at 20.7 g/t gold.

Torian said it had now completed just under 16,800 metres of reverse circulation (RC) infill and extension drilling at the project’s MS Viserion Gold System, where strike extends 1.2 kilometres southwest-to-northwest and 250m at depth.

Today’s results come ahead of a new total mineral resource estimate (MRE) for the project, which Torian is slated to release next month.

Executive Director Peretz Schapiro said the new drilling results had increased the company’s confidence in the Mt Stirling project ahead of the upcoming MRE.

“We have identified a multitude of structural prospective down-dip and along plunge gold
target zones at MS Viserion for continued resource ounce discovery and expansion,” Mr Schapiro said.

“Two RC rigs are now conducting a further 3481 metres of extensional drilling over 21 holes, ahead of the upcoming resource update, and an optimisation study thereafter.”

Mt Stirling currently hosts an MRE of 118,400 ounces of gold, lying just eight kilometres northwest of Red 5’s (RED) King of Hills gold mine.

Looking ahead, Torian said it was planning further drilling along some key prospects in the Mt Stirling area. Specifically, the company plans to delineate a maiden resource in the Estera region of the prospect and to follow up on high-grade results from the Hydra and Tyrannus prospects.

Shares in Torian Resources were up 4 per cent to 2.6 cents each at 11:45 am AEDT. The company has a $30 million market cap.
