Viking Mines (VKA) has intersected up to 36.49 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from the Jana’s Reward target.

The Jana’s Reward target is part of the First Hit Project which lies 50 kilometres west of Menzies in the Western Australia Goldfields.

Viking received results for nine of the 11 holes drilled at Jana’s Reward as part of the 71-hole reverse circulation (RC) drilling program designed to target a series of repeat structures.

These structures are supported by anomalies identified via aircore drilling and results from historical auger sampling.

New results include one metre at 36.49 g/t gold from 17 metres in hole VKRC0057 and one metre at 17.84 g/t gold from 16 metres in hole VKRC0053.

The results have confirmed broad gold halos grading more than 15 parts per billion (ppb) in three locations that may indicate mineralised corridors and structures.

The width and tenor of these anomalies are greater than those at the nearby First Hit structure, warranting follow up drilling.

“I am extremely excited to have intersected high-grade mineralisation on the First Hit tenure in a new area, parallel to the First Hit structure,” CEO and Managing Director Julian Woodcock said.

“To encounter more than one-ounce gold grades in the drilling is extremely encouraging and reflects the potential for multiple narrow-vein, high-grade gold occurrences across the First Hit tenure.”

“The intersection of two new distinct structures at Jana’s Reward, which are open in all directions, provides additional opportunities to add to the two shoots identified at First Hit North.”

Geological modelling and interpretation is continuing to determine options for follow-up drilling and a trip has been planned in March to visit and review the ground around Jana’s Reward.

Further, diamond drill contractors are being approached to discuss options for drilling diamond tails on selected holes from the RC program.

Viking Mines was up 22.7 per cent on the market with shares trading at 1.4 cents at 12:41 pm AEDT.
