Walkabout Resources (WKT) has announced the first shipment of equipment for its Lindi Jumbo graphite project has left China and is on its way to Tanzania.

The equipment on the ship includes mobile equipment and non-containerised processing plant equipment, such as a mobile crane, telehandler and front end loaders.

Walkabout is expecting the ship to arrive at Dar es Salaam in around 30 days. A second ship is expected to leave China in the next few days.

Once the equipment arrives, it will be transported to the Lindi Jumbo project, where the company is developing a graphite operation.

With site and concrete works at Lindi due to commence, experienced Tanzanian construction manager, Chediel Mashana was appointed to oversee the delivery of the project.

Over the past several months, several critical tasks were completed and works
continue to support the commissioning of the plant in the third quarter of 2022.

CEO Andrew Cunningham said Lindi Jumbo continues to deliver milestones.

“Our team has worked tirelessly to manage these unprecedented times of fractured supply chains and transport vulnerabilities to ensure Lindi Jumbo’s construction schedule remains resilient. These persistent efforts stretched over three continents keeping us on budget and within the overall project development schedule – something that the entire team can be proud of.”

Just as the market opens this morning, Walkabout was in the grey and trading at 18.8 cents per share at 11:05 am AEDT.
