West Wits Mining (WWI) is gearing up for an initial phase of field exploration at its Mt Cecelia Project in Western Australia’s East Pilbara region.

Located roughly 200 kilometres east-north-east of Marble Bar, previous due diligence work suggests that the project is highly-prospective for conglomerate-hosted gold mineralisation.

As part of the initial field exploration phase, West Wits will assess the accessibility of the tenement area, focusing on gold, volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) and manganese targets that were identified in an earlier study.

The program will also seek to carry out preliminary mapping of these targets, documenting outcropping and other features to confirm the presence of the targeted bodies.

According to the results of the previous study, the Kylena and Jeerinah formations — which sits within the Mt Cecelia Project — are prospective for VMS deposits. It’s thought that these formations represent classic bimodal volcanic sequences, which may present a significant opportunity for exploration.

Also included as part of the program, West Wits will assess possible locations for remote exploration base camps and supply points to accommodate a larger team for future exploration activities.

Jac van Heerden, Managing Director of West Wits Mining, said the company’s team is excited to be advancing an exploration program at the Mt Cecelia Project, which has been scheduled to begin in mid-July.

“Mt Cecelia sits in Australia’s most highly anticipated exploration region following RIO’s WINU and Greatland Gold’s Havieron discoveries in the Paterson Province, the company has been actively following the hive of exploration activity in the region and looks forward to having boots on the ground to take the project forward,” Jac said.

In addition, West Wits has signed an agreement with the proponents of a solar and wind farm project, providing access to the whole 224 square kilometre property for exploration activities.

West Wits Mining shares have spiked 12.5 per cent today, trading for 2.7 cents each at 11:30 am AEST.
