White Rock Minerals (WRM) has completed its 1990-metre maiden drilling program at the Last Chance gold target in Alaska.

The drilling program aimed to identify orogenic or intrusion related gold system (IRGS) mineralisation within the prolific Tintina Gold Province. This province hosts the 45-million ounce Donlin Creek, the 13.5-million ounce Fort Knox and the 10-million ounce Pogo gold deposits.

A total of eight holes were drilled across the Pickle, Sidewinder West, Double Down and Sidewinder Blowout areas.

White Rock discovered Last Chance early this year after receiving analyses from samples collected last year. Further, soil sampling conducted earlier this year indicated the presence of a large mineralised gold system which extended over a six-kilometre strike that is 1.2 kilometres wide.

“Considering the Last Chance Gold Target started as a stream sediment anomaly earlier this year, our 2020 field season accomplished a lot,” Technical Advisor Dr Quinton Hennigh said.

“Geological reconnaissance identified multiple high-level hydrothermal silica breccia bodies distributed throughout the target area in spite of the fact that steep talus slopes conceal up to 95% of the underlying geology,” Quinton added.

White Rock confirmed all drill holes completed this year encountered variable amounts of quartz veining or silica breccia.

Drilling at the Pickle target returned 15.7 metres at 0.1g/t gold from 43.4 metres, 1.2 metres at 0.35g/t gold, 18.2 metres at 0.1g/t gold from 44 metres and 0.7 metres at 0.38g/t gold.

Assays for the remaining three targets areas are pending.

While White Rock waits for the remaining results, it will compile geological, geochemical, magnetic and first pass CSAMT data to better interpret the gold system and plan a drilling program for next year.

Company shares have dropped 27 per cent just after market open to trade for 65 cents.
