Sandfire Resources (SFR) has announced more significant results from resource drilling at the A4 Dome satellite discovery, within its Tshukudu Project in Botswana.

The company has also detailed the expansion of its land-holding in the Kalahari Copper Belt after a recent agreement with ASX-listed Kopore Metals (KMT) to acquire a block of nine licences in Namibia. These licences cover 6700 square kilometres held by Kopore’s subsidiary, Trans-Kalahari Copper Namibia.

The acquisition brings Sandfire’s total footprint to over 18,000 square kilometres.

The licences lie directly along strike from the western border of Sandfire’s Botswana licences and cover a large, under-explored area within the western part of the Kalahari Copper Belt.

The A4 Dome discovery has shown significant wide intercepts of shallow, high grade vein-hosted copper-silver mineralisation.

Latest assay results are for a further six diamond holes within the resource area that were drilled before the Botswana Government imposed COVID-19 lockdown restrictions in March.

Out of the diamond holes, five delivered significant high-grade intersections of copper-silver mineralisation.

Best results include 20.5 metres at 3.6 per cent copper and 88g/t silver from 78.5 metres down-hole; 21.8 metres at 2.5 per cent copper and 57g/t silver from 74.2 metres down-hole, and 32.8 metres at 1.8 per cent copper and 32g/t silver from 94.9 metres down-hole.

The latest drilling has increased the known strike length of the mineralisation to over 700 metres with the deposit remaining open both to the northeast and southwest.

As the Botswana Government has announced COVID-19 restrictions will ease, Sandfire has begun discussions with regulatory authorities and drilling contractors to recommence resource drilling at A4 by early June.

In addition, Sandfire hopes to drill test new targets within the A4 and T3 domes.

Sandfire is up a slight 1.36 per cent with shares trading for $4.46 each at 3:58 pm AEST.
