Alice Queen (AQX) has seen positive results from its recent bulk ore sorter testwork at its Horn Island Project in Queensland’s Torres Strait.

The gold and copper explorer recently engaged with Tomra Sorting Solutions to trial its XRT sorter system on ore bulk samples from Horn Island.

Alice Queen tested the sorter on two different samples, Horn Island drill core and 1980’s waste dump material.

Results have proven to be highly effective and show the sorter is suitable for the project.

In the drill core, the ore sorter improved average grade by up to 392 per cent with the highest mass reduction of 88 per cent. The rejected waste product stream averaged a low 0.21g/t of gold.

While in the waste dump, the ore sorter improved average grade by up to 463 per cent with highest mass reduction of 89 per cent. The rejected waste product stream averaged a low 0.16g/t gold.

Managing Director Andrew Buxton said these results are extremely encouraging.

“Yesterday’s ASX announcement regarding the results of the second half of the company’s RC infill program set the scene in relation the forthcoming update to the Horn Island Mineral Resource Estimate,” he said.

“However, most importantly, when one combine’s yesterday’s positive drill results with today’s Tomra ore sorting results, it is easy to be very optimistic about the future outcome of the Horn island Scoping Study,” he added.

On market close, Alice Queen is in the grey and trading at 2 cents per share.
