Battery Minerals (BAT) has bolstered its leadership team with the appointment of Peter Duerden as Managing Director.

Mr Duerden’s appointment comes with a $310,000 year salary and incentives, including 65 million five-year, zero-exercise priced options.

The new Managing Director has been appointed to drive the company’s exploration and growth strategies across its Victorian and WA projects.

 “I am very excited to be joining Battery Minerals at this stage of its exploration and evaluation strategy,” Mr Duerden said.

“The recent exploration work across the Company’s portfolio highlights potential for multiple Tier-1 discoveries.”

Mr Duerden was previously Managing Director of both Magmatic Resources and Sky Metals, and held senior management positions at Newcrest Mining and Alkane Resources.

David Flanagan will move from Executive Chairman to Non-Executive Chairman, working with Jeff Dowling and Darryl Clark following the appointment.   

 “Peter’s skills and experience will be highly valuable as we push to create shareholder value through exploration at our highly promising copper and gold projects,” Mr Flanagan said.

Mr Duerden will resume the role from 10 January 2022.

Battery Minerals was up 6.67 per cent, trading at 1.6 cents at 2:20 pm AEDT.
