Beam Communications (BCC) has received its fourth and largest order of 7750 ZOLEO units from its joint venture company ZOLEO Inc.

ZOLEO is a global messaging device that can send messages from outside of mobile coverage. It also has SOS emergency features and a 200-hour battery life which is suitable for people in remote areas.

This latest and largest order exceeds the third order the company received for 5000 ZOLEO units back inJuly.

It will also help meet the growing demand for ZOLEO units, after BPS Direct – the owner of Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s – expanded its reseller agreement with Beam’s joint venture partner Roadpost Inc.

ZOLEO was initially sold through Cabela’s, however, BPS will now also stock the device in stores located across the U.S.

So far, Beam has secured commercial distribution and sales arrangements with 17 ZOLEO resellers, along with its online channels such as Amazon Australia, eBay Australia and Myer Online.

Importantly, major Canadian department chain, London Drugs, has also started selling ZOLEO across its 80 stores.

Additionally, Beam is in the process of negotiations to bring other national retail chains on board by year-end.

The company expects to deliver the 7750 units by the end of this year. In total, Beam has now received orders for 22,000 ZOLEO units since the March quarter.

Beam’s shares are up 6.98 per cent and are trading for 23 cents at 3:44 pm AEST.
