Caeneus Minerals (CAD) has kicked off the second round of drilling at its Pardoo project east of Port Hedland in Western Australia.

A total of 32 reverse circulation drillholes are planned at the Highway deposit for around 6000 metres as part of the company’s renewed evaluation of the nickel project.

This round of work follows on from drilling completed in April which confirmed historical shallow and thick nickel, copper, cobalt and palladium mineralisation outlined in the late 1990’s to early 2009.

While the company plans to in-fill the drill holes, several drillholes will also be further evaluated with a down-hole versatile time domain electromagnetic system.

Caeneus hopes the phase two campaign will provide the drilling needed to complete a mineral resource estimate which is due to be released early next year.

In this vein, the company is looking to engage with it’s resource consultant during the next six to nine months while metallurgical and mineral characterisation studies are being conducted.

Caeneus shares were up 9.09 per cent trading at 0.6 cents at 11:21 am AEST.
