Industrial water treatment company Clean Teq (CLQ) has been awarded two new water purification contracts in Queensland and Oman.
The Queensland deal
Clean Teq was awarded a contract, valued at over $2 million, by Mackay Regional Council for the upgrade of a bore water treatment plant at Koumala, in Queensland.
Under the deal, CLQ will design, supply, and install an ion exchange treatment plant.
Added to this, CLQ will introduce a gas chlorination system to remove hardness and lower the salinity of the existing bore water supply. Ultimately, this will reduce the scaling of pipes and improve taste in the water supply of Koumala.
Clean Teq will manage the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of the plant including subcontracting of civil works. The program of works is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2021 and run through to the end of the year.
The Oman deal
In late 2019, Clean Teq announced Multotec, the company’s sales and delivery partner in Africa, had received a contract to design, procure and construct a waste water treatment system at an antimony processing facility in Oman.
The Clean Teq designed and supplied water treatment plant comprises the company’s DesalX technology, chemical precipitation and reverse osmosis to recycle water for re-use on site. The water treatment plant is designed to remove a range of harmful elements from up to 200 tons of wastewater per day.
Clean Teq has today announced it was awarded a contract to undertake the detailed design for an upgrade of this water treatment plant. Changes in the upstream antimony processing facility have resulted in a higher salt load and increased arsenic, antimony and selenium concentrations in the water. The upgrade will focus on neutralising the waste for easier recovery.
Clean Teq Managing Director and CEO, Sam Riggall states, “our water business continues to build on the successes achieved over the past year.”
“Having demonstrated our capability in designing, constructing and commissioning our highly effective proprietary water purification systems in a range of different applications, our focus is now shifting towards revenue growth,” he continued.
The Melbourne-based Clean Teq sent shareholders on a wild ride in 2020, hitting a low of 10.5 cents in March before rebounding to a high of 38.5 cents in September.
Clean Teq is up 8 per cent early in today’s session, trading at 27 cents at 10:06 am AEDT.
