Digital Wine Ventures (DW8) has enjoyed another record month for its WINEDEPOT business, while signing on McLaren Vale “success story,” Mollydooker Wines.

In today’s update, the company said it has signed another 13 customers, bringing the total number of suppliers to 58 and breaking another customer growth record.

CEO Dean Taylor said it is great to see customer numbers growing, however, the most encouraging thing is seeing WINEDEPOT develop a presence in different regions.

“To date, most of our marketing efforts have been concentrated in South Australia, where the majority of the nation’s wine is produced. In those areas, we are already seeing the benefits of word-of-mouth referrals from existing customers,” he said.

“Therefore, it’s great to see so many new customers coming from other states and regions as it allows us to leverage their peer-to-peer networks to drive compounding growth,” he added.

McLaren Vale

One of these new customers is Mollydooker Wines, which comes from McLaren Vale; a small but famous wine region in South Australia.

Mollydooker is a family-owned business which was launched in 2006. Since then, it has transformed into a successful global brand, under the leadership of owner Sarah Marquis.

The success of the wine brand all began when Robert M Parker JR, a famous American wine critic, reviewed their first vintage wines and rated Mollydooker’s ‘Boxer’ shiraz as the ‘Best Value Red Wine in the World’. This was followed by the ‘Two Left Feet Shiraz’ cabernet as the second and ‘Maitre D’ Cabernet’ as the fourth.

It wasn’t just Mollydooker’s red wine that was in the spotlight; its white wine also garnered critical acclaim. He voted its ‘Violinist’ Verdelho as the ‘Best Value White Wine in the World’ and he gave the ‘The Velvet Glove’ the perfect score of 99 points out of 100.

The winery produces between 70,000 and 100,000 cases of wine per year, with around 80 per cent exported to the U.S.

“As with many Australian wineries, Mollydooker has a renewed focus on strengthening its presence in the domestic market,” the company told the market.

Digital Wine is up 10 per cent on the market this morning and is selling shares for 1.1 cents each at 10:40 am AEST.
