Fiji Kava (FIJ) was up as much as 26.9 per cent today after announcing its noble kava products will soon available at Chemist Warehouse stores.

Under this partnership, Fiji Kava’s vegan capsules will be available across more than 300 stores across Australia and New Zealand.

The capsules include Noble Sleep, Noble Calm and Noble Body, which aim to promote sleep, calm nerves and relax the mind and body.

The products contain kava, a drug made from the ground roots of the Piper methysticum, which is a plant from the pepper family and is native to the South Pacific.

Traditionally, the root is crushed, ground or powdered and soaked in water to be drunk as tea. This tea in then often consumed socially as part of traditional ceremonies and cultural practices throughout the Pacific Islands.

In small doses kava can help relax muscles and induce feelings of wellbeing and sleepiness. However, long-term use can lead to a range of problems such as weight loss, malnutrition and indifference.

That said, noble kava is considered the safest form to consume.

“Securing ranging of Fiji Kava in Chemist Warehouse significantly expands our retail footprint in Australia and enables use to reach more consumers of kava and individuals seeking natural alternatives for issues such as sleep, anxiety and muscle relaxation,” interim CEO Nicholas Simms commented.

Following the initial purchase order from Chemist Warehouse, the products are expected to begin rolling out in stores throughout April and May.

Shares in Fiji Kava are still up 15.4 per cent and are trading at 15 cents at 11:31 am AEST.
