Golden Cross Resources (GCR) has paused its surface sampling program across its Copper Hill tenement in New South Wales due to inclement weather.

The ongoing program is covering target areas that are potential infrastructure sites and where previous sampling analysed a limited number of elements.

Prior to heavy rainfall, sampling was progressing on first pass spacing of 200 by 200 metres at an additional 43 sites.

The most recent geochemical results from this work returned up to 1245 parts per million copper and 0.39 grams per tonne (g/t) gold.

Golden Cross noted the soil copper is elevated to the northeast of the open cut mine and is low over the open cut area.

These findings are said to correlate with previous oxide drilling observations which showed copper was depleted in the upper parts of the oxide zone and gold remained as a residual in the open cut area.

Soil copper is also elevated to the southwest of Wattle Hill and presents a zone open to the southeast where GCR plans to continue extension sampling once the weather permits.

Further work is also planned to the north towards the Shades Road prospect where the company said limited previous low tenor results suggested a subsurface source.

Golden Cross shares were trading grey at 1.3 cents at market close.
