International tech giant HP has officially launched its first wireless earbud product, made in collaboration with ASX-listed Nuheara (NUH).

The HP-branded product, known as the HP Elite Wireless Earbuds, was created as part of Nuheara’s recently-announced manufacture and supply agreement with the tech company.

The Elite earbuds use Nuheara’s intellectual property and carry the Nuheara brand while being touted by HP as the world’s most advanced earbuds.

Small but powerful

HP claims the Elite Wireless Earbuds are the best in the world based on a variety of key performance indicators, including hearing enrichment, customisable pre-sets, sound direction customisation, power efficiency, and more.

The product comes equipped with personalised audio tuning, adjustable noise cancellation and sound situation presets, among other features.

HP launched the product at this week’s annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2021) event. The earbuds are expected to be available for purchase from April 2021.

HP said it will initially offer the product as a bundle option with select HP notebook computers, though the earbuds will also be available for separate purchase.

Nuheara CEO Justin Miller said the co-development of the new product with a “technology powerhouse” like HP is a strong validation of the company’s strong engineering and manufacturing team in Perth, WA.

“HP, a leading innovator in technology, has launched the product during a major technological shift where collaboration via the PC and remote locations has increased significantly since the inception of COVID,” Justin said.

“This global need has now fundamentality changed the earbud or headphone from a PC peripheral to a PC essential,” he said.

“As global leaders in our respective markets of PCs and hearables, this represents a strong partnership and excellent foundation for the next three years.”

Nuheara’s own brand of wireless earbuds, known as its IQbuds range, are designed to act as an alternative to conventional hearing aids. While the product can be used as a regular set of wireless earbuds, it allows users to augment their hearing based on personal preference and needs.

The IQbuds2 MAX product, which is the latest generation of IQbuds, is sold through major electronics retails, professional hearing clinics, and pharmacies around the world.

Shares in Nuheara are trading a slight 1.96 per cent higher this morning at 5.2 cents each at 10:45 am AEDT. The company has a $91 million market cap.
