Lefroy Exploration (LEX) has kicked off its diamond drilling program at the Burns copper-gold prospect near Kalgoorlie in WA.

The prospect lies within the Eastern Lefroy tenement package, which is part of the wholly-owned greater Lefroy Gold Project.

The aim of the drilling program is to expand and advance the copper-gold mineralisation hosted by magnetite altered diorite porphyry, known as the Eastern Porphyry zone.

At the end of last month, the company announced that 14 reverse circulation pre collars were in place to be selected for diamond tails and ready to test both strike and depth extensions to the outstanding intercept in hole LEFR260 within the
Eastern Porphyry.

The first hole of the program, LEFD004, will be a diamond hole to twin and extend past the high-grade interval in LEFR260.

Following that, the second planned hole will test 50 metres vertically beneath the mineralisation in LEFR260 using a prior RC drill hole as a pre-collar.

Lefroy states that these two holes will provide fundamental geological information to characterise the copper-gold-silver mineralisation to guide further exploration at this new setting.

The program totals around 2000 metres of drilling with work estimated to take two months to complete with initial assay results expected in June.

One drill rig will start work on a single shift but could be ramped up to a double shift depending on the availability of drill crews.

Shares closed 1.5 per cent higher at $1.30 at 4:10 pm AEST.
