Lithium Universe (LU7) has welcomed a new appointment to its board, with Patrick Scallan AOM taking on a Non-Executive Director role.
Mr Scallan holds an extensive 25 years of management experience in the lithium industry at the world-class Greenbushes Mine, which is the largest lithium hard rock mine worldwide.
He oversaw the mine’s many expansions which increased annual output from 200,000 in 1997 to more than 1.4 million tonnes per annum today.
The move comes as Director, Ross Cotton, resigns to focus on his full-time role as Managing Director of Balkan Mining (BMM).
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Scallan said he looked forward to joining the “lithium dream team”.
“I am excited by the prospects of evaluating a vertically integrated mine to lithium refinery processing hub concept at James Bay,” he said.
“I see a real opportunity for LU7 to develop a value-added strategy in Québec that meets the Canadian government’s likely requirement for the downstream processing of lithium minerals.”
“He brings extensive experience in the lithium industry…His expertise in hard rock exploration, mining, and downstream relationships with major spodumene converters worldwide, make him a valuable addition to the LU7 team,” LU7 Chair Iggy Tan said.
“Moreover, Pat’s community relations experience and expertise will also be vital to the company.”
