MinRex Resources (MRR) has commenced a reverse circulation drill program over its Shaw River lithium-tin-tantalum project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

The drilling will target pegmatites to enhance its understanding of battery metal mineralisation at the historic Shaw River tin-tantalum mine.

No modern exploration has been conducted over this area, with exception of only shallow auger drilling at seven metre depths.

Over the next year, the company has planned to conduct 25,000 metres of drilling across its Pilbara lithium assets, which will be completed by FORACO Drilling Australia.

In preparation, MRR executed a native title heritage agreement to drill over the Shaw River and Marble Bar project areas.

Managing Director George Karagegeorge was eager to start to drilling.

“The company is in a great position of securing native title heritage agreement with Nyamal Corporation over the Marble Bar Tenements and Proposed of Works Approvals over all its Projects from the WA Mines Department for the continuation of drilling in the east Pilbara,” he said.

Shares were trading 16.7 per cent higher at 4.2 cents each at 3:07 pm AEST.
