PepinNini Minerals (PNN) has reported high grade results from its lithium brine-blending program at its Salta lithium-brine project in Argentina.
The company achieved 5.2 per cent lithium which it says continues to show blending brine from multiple sources delivers high lithium recoveries and low contaminants.
It says the result is “exponentially higher” than other lithium companies in the region that typically report between 0.02 and 0.1 per cent lithium in their salares, or salt lakes.
The brine blending program began in May 2021 and has assessed the level of lithium concentration from blended brines as they evaporate over time. The brines have been blended at a 3:1 ratio from the Incahuasi and Rincon salt flats respectively.
While testing is ongoing, PepinNini claims test results indicate potential for reduced use and cost of process chemical reagents, efficiency and potential for a future lithium operation at Salta.
The company says final results are due in Q1 of this year and will form the basis for technical, economic and preliminary commercial project evaluation.
PepinNini intends to conduct an independent preliminary evaluation assessment or scoping study to determine viability of a pilot-scale and full scale lithium carbonate production.
