Rubix Resources (RB6) has announced it’s set to begin drilling at its Paperbark project in northwest Queensland this month.

The Paperbark project is one of four Australian projects held by Rubix, which only listed on the ASX last December, and comprises the company’s fully owned EPM14309, which contains several prospective targets for both zinc-lead and copper mineralisation.

Later this month, Rubix will begin a combination of reverse circulation and diamond drilling for holes up to 2000 metres at prospective targets.

Focus will be on unexplained high-grade surface copper mineralisation, a cryptic conductivity anomaly, and the extension of lead-zinc mineralisation in an area called the JB Zone.

The first hole set to be drilled will test an area called “Triangle” which contains anomalous conductivity. The company says previous drilling in this area missed the target zone and did not intersect whatever caused this anomaly.

Rubix is hoping to find this zone by drilling a hole 250 metres in depth.

Further drill holes will then help the company understand the potential for economic copper mineralisation at the Grunter North area within Paperbark.

The company says there’s been very little drilling at depth at Grunter North.

Previous drilling did discover a zone of surface copper mineralisation, with 18 drill samples finding over one per cent copper oxides over a 900-metre strike length.

There have also been reports of rock chips found in the area with up to 42.7 per cent copper.

RB6 shares ended the day 4.17 per cent in the red to close at 11.5 cents.
